 AITEX is a private non-profit association formed by textile and related companies whose main objective is to improve the textile companies competitiveness, promoting modernisation actions, new technologies introduction and improvement of the company and products quality. AITEX (80 people, 4 Meuro turnover) acts on behalf of the textile and clothing industries in Spain and overseas, with more than 800 companies associated and around 33% of the Spanish companies of the sector as regular customers (about 1500 in 2004). Activities are focused on: Standardisation and quality, RTD Projects (National, regional and European, 25 of which in FP5 and FP6), New Technologies, ICT, Services and Technological Advising, Dissemination, Technological Transfer and Training, among which BUSCATEX, an intelligent search tool for textile products and displays is very closed to the SEAMLESS approach. AITEX actively participates in the EC initiative AMI@Work, with Ms Silvia Sancho acting as viceChair of the SEEM@Work community.
AITEX runs the 1st World-wide Textile-Clothing-Technical textiles Technological Observatory (www.observatoriotextil.com), and the www.texil.org (an Internet Advanced Services tool for the SpanishTextile Sector, comprising a: corporate web, catalogues of products, virtual shop in the company web, service for private orders with remote control, 3D virtual service in www.trade.textil.org).
