T-ONLINE Group is the principal provider of telecom services in Hungary. Through the co-ordinated activities of
T-ONLINE and its member companies, the T-ONLINE Group covers four business areas: Fixed-line services provided to business and to residential customers, mobile telephony, Internet and CATV. The majority shareholder is Deutsche Telekom AG, while 41% of the shares are publicly traded. T-ONLINE revenues grew by 2.8% to EUR 2,396.2 m in 2003 compared to 2002.The permanent staff of the Group was 14.710, out of which 8.073 working T-ONLINE Rt.

The Internet business (Axelero Rt.) is also very successful with about 50% market share. Axelero’s Internet content service portal [origo] is one of the most popular Hungarian websites. One of the primary strategic objectives of Axelero is the acceleration of Internet take-up, consequently it is taking a leading role in the introduction of new technologies and services. Axelero was the first ISP to offer solutions to meet individual Internet demands: it is managing e-business and individual Internet communications projects, and offers consultation services. In 2003 it established Marketline Business Solutions together with Marketline, the largest electronic market place operating in Hungary. 

T-ONLINE aims to become an international telecommunications group. The acquisition of MakTel (Makedonski Telekommunikacii AD) - the sole fixed-line and a mobile service provider in Macedonia - was the first step of this geographic expansion strategy. In 2005 Telekom Montenegro was also bought by T-ONLINE. Concerning RTD, T-ONLINE is partner of MUPPET (EU6 FP, R&D project led by Telecom Italia) and actively participates in the EURESCOM, ETNO and ETSI initiatives.
